Bingo for Better

Nova Scotia's Summer Bingo for Better!

Celebrate, explore, and support Nova Scotia’s communities and culture with Bingo for Better this summer. Our vibrant arts scene, our beautiful wild and natural spaces, our rich cultural communities all make life in Nova Scotia sweet.

So much of what makes Nova Scotia unique is endangered by the current government’s actions in the current budget. We believe that all governments must be held to a standard where they work for our common good, regardless of political stripe.

This bingo card includes classic Nova Scotian summer experiences and activities. Fill your Bingo for Better card this summer, and bring along friends, family, neighbours and children as you go! Be sure to explore places, vendors, and artists that are new to you.

Join us in September for Bingo for Better Block Parties in communities around the province. Together, let’s celebrate this place we are so fortunate to call home, and call on the government to change their approach for the betterment of all. If you would like to help organise in your community, let us know!

Recent provincial budget cuts threaten critical parts of Nova Scotia's unique culture. We deserve better! Protect the culture we love by playing Bingo for Better this summer, and participate in the very activities and institutions that are under attack. Put a Culture is Critical sign in your window; Visit a trail stewarded by Mikmaw people; Dip your toes or swim at a provincial beach you haven't been to before; Donate to or volunteer with a non-profit that has been cut; Go to a live theatre production; Take a friend to a festival; Buy some NS maple syrup; Have a picnic on public lands (including provincial parks); See a film at an independent cinema; Read a book by a Nova Scotian author; Take a bus or ride your bike; Visit a public library and meet your librarian; Explore, walk, or roll on a provincial trail you haven't been on before; Watch a NS Film or TV Show (Heated Rivalry counts); See - or JOIN - a choir; Visit a museum or monument dedicated to African NS History; Visit (and maybe buy something from a NS craftsperson; See a dance show - or take a dance class; Visit a protected or wilderness area near you; Visit or join a community garden; Buy some of your groceries at a Farmer's Market; Visit a Nova Scotian museum, especially in a rural community; See some live music; Visit an art gallery or artist's studio

Nova Scotia's vibrant arts scene, our beautiful wild and natural spaces, our rich cultural communities all make life here sweet, and many of these elements of our unique culture are threatened or endangered by the recent provincial budget. So celebrate, explore, and support Nova Scotia's communities and culture this summer, and then join us in September for Bingo for Better Block Parties in communities around the province. Connect with friends and neighbours around these shared values and assets, and remind our elected leaders that we truly value our arts, culture, heritage, and natural environment, and that we want our politicians to choose better for Nova Scotia. Find more info or sign up to organize a Bingo for Better Block Party at bingoforbetter.ca. How to play BINGO for Better: 1. Get together with friends, family, neighbours and head out for some summer adventures across Nova Scotia, and involve the kids in your life, too. They are also affected by the many cuts to arts, recreation, wilderness and family programming. 2. Try for a line, a double line, or even a full card-also known as Blackout Bingo- appropriate because so many of these experiences will be blacked out if the government doesn't start governing in the interests of Nova Scotians. 3. Document your adventures with photos and post them with #bingoforbetter on Instagram or Facebook, and be sure to tag @bingoforbetter and your MLA (find them here: https://nslegislature.ca/members/profiles). 4. Join us for a Bingo for Better Block Party in your area in September. We'll hold these celebrations of community spirit and resilience around the province. Bring your bingo card - it's your free ticket to the party! Head to bingoforbetter.ca to find the Block Party in your region. Resources: Want to play along but aren't sure where to go? We've got you covered! Visit bingoforbetter.ca to find links to the things you can do and see on this card and much more.
